US-64 Equity Exposure Declines To 60% In Sept

The Unit Trust of Indias (UTI) flagship scheme, US-64 investments in equity and equity-related instruments dropped to 60.21 per cent at Rs 6,461.80 crore in the month of September 2002 as against 62 per cent in August 2002.

The overall size of the scheme as of September stood at Rs 10,732.55 crore, which a month ago was at Rs 11,300.09 crore.

In equities, the top five holdings of US-64 were in Reliance Industries Limited at 9.24 per cent of the total corpus or investments worth Rs 991.31 crore, Indian Tobacco Company Limited at 7.56 per cent of the corpus amounting Rs 811.43 crore, Reliance Petroleum Corporation at 4.73 per cet at Rs 507.18 crore, Infosys Technologies at 2.45 per cent aggregating Rs 262.45 crore, and Hindustan Lever Limited at 2.25 per cent worth Rs 241.38 crore.

In the flagship scheme, 39.79 per cent of the investments made were in debt and debt-related instruments for the month of September. In the overall debt investments, 77.28 per cent were in the 11.24 per cent G-Sec maturing on June 24, 2004 in which the investments ammounted to Rs 3,300 crore or 30.75 per cent of the total corpus size.In the month of September, non-performing assets (NPAs) worth Rs 143.46 crore was fully provided for and this formed 1.34 per cent of the total corpus size.

Total value of non-traded equity shares stood at 0.83 per cent of porfolio aggregating Rs 88.86 crore.
