United India Insurance Co Ltd has structured a comprehensive insurance policy for media and entertainment company, United Television (UTV) for all its productions meant for television telecast.

The policy, which would include ad films and serials, provides insurance to the company against risks and losses arising out of death or disability of key artists, damage or destruction of sets and expenses of re-shoot in case of occurrence of any such accidents, the company said in a press release on Monday.

A tailor-made comprehensive annual policy for UTV called UTV Production Policy would also cover personal accident and hospitalisation of technicians, attendants and other personnel working on production and public liability insurance.

United India Insurance development officer Ajit Gupta said We have been proposing this to various producers in television media for quite some time and are happy that we have now structured a tailor-made comprehensive annual policy for UTV for its entire production for television, for a year. This will provide full risk assurance to the company against any unforeseen eventualities in the future.

Our television production activity comprises of around 25 different shoots at different locations with the involvement of atleast 500 people at any point of time and there was no standard insurance product available to cover all risks associated with it. We worked with United India to work-out a comprehensive policy to address all potential risks at a reasonable amount of premium said UTVs director (operations and finance) Ronald Dmello.
