BJP leaders can breathe easier now with one of their star campaigners, Uma Bharti, all set to hit the campaign trail from January 28. As per the original schedule drawn up for her by party president LK Advani, she was to campaign for 20 days in Bihar, leaving two days each for Haryana and Jharkhand.

Ms Bharti had to postpone her programme, which was earlier scheduled to commence on January 23, after she was hospitalised following chest pain and high blood pressure. However, she has now been declared fit by her doctor in Delhi, and will be ready to campaign.

The party had projected the fiery sanyasin as its answer to Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief chief Lalu Prasad aggressive campaign style, as she is one of the few in the party who can, with her inimitable style, take on Mr Prasad in his own state.

Party sources said that unlike some of the other national leaders, Ms Bharti will not be using choppers hired by the party for campaigning, but would be travelling only by road in Bihar to strike an instant chemistry with the grassroots. As per her revised schedule, Ms Bharti will now be camping in Bihar for about two weeks, leaving a couple of days for Jharkhand.
