Two Indians Among Top 500 Salary Earners In UK

Two NRIs, Dinesh Dhamija and Tom Singh, are among the top 500 pay earners in the UK, Media Reports said. According to the Sunday Times pay list 2003 revealed on Sunday, 53-year-old Mr Dhamija and his wife Tani, set up Dabin Travel in 1980, followed by Flight Bookers three years later. In 1996, a friend, who had developed an internet booking engine persuaded him to try it out - and e-bookers, the online travel company, was born. In 2002, Mr Dhamijas salary was 3,32,771 pounds. In November 2002, he sold 9.45 million pounds shares. Mr Dhamija, a new entrant in the top pay list is listed at 80 with assets worth 9.783 million pounds. 54-year-old Tom Singh is listed at 229 with assets worth 3.634 million. Last year, he was at 253 with 2.879 million pounds worth of assets. Starting his new look Womens Wear empire in 1969 with a loan from his parents, Mr Singh took the Dorset-based group public in 1998. He is now a non-executive director with a 141 million pounds stake and is thinking of taking it private again.

In the year to March, he was paid 3,046,301 pounds towards dividends and a salary of 256,909 pounds. In June, he sold shares worth 330,846 pounds.

Englands soccer captain is 34th among the top earners and made 20.5 million pounds in 2003 as against 15.5 million pounds last year, when he was listed at 45.

While, the queen earned 15.59 million pounds (listed at 46) as against 15.2 million pounds in the previous year, pop singer Madonna earned 15 million pounds, same as the previous year.

Despite undergoing prison sentence, novelist Lord Jeffrey Archer earned 5.6 million pounds during 2003 as against 7.2 million pounds in the previous year. As prisoner ff8282, Lord Archer did not waste his time in jail.
