TVS Beefs Up Mysore Unit Capacity To 20K Units/Mth

TVS Motor Co Ltd is ramping up production facility at its Mysore plant to cater to an increase in demand for its 100 cc popular segment motorcycle Centra.

TVS launched Centra in mid-January this year and has dubbed it as the most fuel efficient motorcycle in the country. According to TVS officials, the Mysore plant will soon make 20,000 Centras a month, from 14,000 units as of now.

Currently, the demand for Centra is exceeding supply. We have booked a lot of orders but are unable to supply them to the customers, company officials said. TVS had issued a statement sometime back that in the first 40 days of its launch, Centra sales surpassed the 20,000 units mark. While, TVS manufactures Centra at its Mysore plant, the companys Hosur plant is manufacturing only mopeds.

TVS on Tuesday launched Fiero FX, a variant of Fiero F2 launched about a year back. Positioned in the premium segment, the variant incorporates new features like round headlamps, turn signal lamps and a twin pod instrument cluster comprising the speedometer and trip tachometer. The 150 cc Fiero FX has been priced at Rs 48,840 (drum-brake) and Rs 50,380 (disc-brake) models.

TVS, currently, has a 17 per cent marketshare in motorcycles. In the east, TVS has a marketshare of 19 per cent.
