We are certainly going to take Pizza Corner to two or three countries by 2005, promoter of Global Franchise Architects (GFA), the parent company of Pizza Corner India, Fred Mouwad told FE.
Back in Bangalore after attending a franchise fair in Singapore last week, Mr Mouwad said GFA has identified a few master franchisees and was currently in talks with them to open its operations in the identified global markets. We were the only Indian brand present in the fair, Mr Mouwad said.
According to Mr Mouwad, Pizza Corner has turned around in the last two years and was on a growth path. We are very bullish on Pizza Corner and expect high growth from the brand in the next three to five years, Mr Mouwad said.
At present, the Pizza Corner chain has 28 outlets across the country in New Delhi, Chennai, Bangalore, Mysore, Hyderabad and Pondicherry. The chain plans to expand at the rate of 10 stores every year with a major thrust on franchising.
Meanwhile, GFA is working on bringing its second food retail brand Coffee World, launched in Thailand in 1997, to India. The brand, which will be first launched in Bangalore in October, will be positioned as a super premium luxury coffee retail brand. We will be the first international coffee retail chain to come to India, Mr Mouwad said and added that it was competing very well with Starbucks in Thailand.
By launching several food retail brands, Mr Mouwad said the company was now leveraging its expertise to franchise specialty retail brands worldwide. I have always been interested in consumer brands and the food sector is very interesting. Its a channel through which one can reach out to a lot of people, he said.
Besides Pizza Corner and Coffee World, GFA also has under its fold a take-away sandwich chain called New York Delhi and an ice-cream chain by the name of Cream & Fudge Corp.
Apart from food retail business, Mr Mouwad runs a call centre in Bangalore called ITPL which manages the online section of his familys traditional jewellery business called mondera.com.
