Toonz Animation Ropes In John Carey

John Carey, known for his innovative animation film budgeting, has joined Toonz Animation. He joins as director (European marketing) for the Technopark-based ink animation studio, rated by California-based Animation Magazine among the worlds top ten.

Mr Carey has worked for several years with overseas studios in Eastern Europe, Spain besides India, according to Toonz Animation chief executive officer Bill Dennis. Mr Dennis, a former Walt Disney studio man, also expects Mr Carey to help fine-tune Toonz quality standards and delivery schedules, he says.

Mr Carey, renowned for his association with The Return of The Pink Panther and The Snowman, has recently distinguished himself for his contribution to animation film budgeting and scheduling techniques. Each episode of Captain Pugwash series was brought under budget, ahead of time and to maximum quality - winning an Indy Award for Best Animation in 1998.

Toonzs new marketing man is also the founder of the British Animation Training Scheme. Mr Carey was the head of animation at National and Television School, UK; sat on the Guild of British Animation, and the PACT animation committee. He undertook a training exercise for British Overseas Development Agency in central Russia.
