Thomas Cook Registers Higher Profit At Rs 7.5 Cr

Thomas Cook (India) Ltd on Thursday posted a higher profit at Rs 7.5 crore for the third quarter ending July 31, 2004 compared with Rs 6.2 crore in the same period the previous fiscal.

Revenues for the period under review rose to Rs 34.3 crore compared with Rs 26.6 crore in the corresponding period of earlier fiscal. "After 9-11, this is the first year that has been steady and the travel and tourism industry saw a positive growth across all segments," CEO and MD of Thomas Cook Ashwini Kakkar said.

In the leisure travel business, Thomas Cook witnessed about 70 per cent growth compared with the last year and the company intends to expand its inbound market through new niche activites, including adventure and eco toursim.
