Micromax has launched a near look alike of its Q5fb and Q7 QWERTY phones that have been their major selling items. Called Q75 ezpad, this dual SIM outing is the latest addition to Micromax qwerty series and comes with a few advancements like WiFi, better camera and a stronger battery.
With a black body this phone almost looks like a Blackberry curve, except that its display seems smaller. The phone looks sleek and stylish with a matte finish, though it felt slightly heavy when held in hand. The front panel has a 2.4 inch TFT colour display, which is sharp and gives good legibility in sunlight. It is followed by a d-pad featuring a white trackball that glows when the phone is in use.
The trackball is easy to use and its sensitivity can be altered according to the user?s comfort level. Towards its left lie two SIM call keys and dedicated menu key on the extreme left. The right side has a soft key for SOS calls, disconnect cum switch on/off key with a dedicated application key adjacent to it.
The screen lock/unlock key is in the keypad next to the space, which also acts as the shortcut key. The bottom has a mini USB port and a 3.5mm audio jack placed neatly. The back panel boasts of 3.2 megapixel camera and a big powerful speaker. The lid on the back panel covers the large 1200mAh battery, 2 SIM slots and a micro SD card slot.
Micromax Q75 is a dual SIM phone with options for keeping either of the two SIMs active or both at the same time. The in-call sound is good and clear. Its major highlight is its stunning sound quality, which is loud and clear. Unfortunately, there are no dedicated volume keys in it. The radio transmission is clear and registered all FM stations on first auto search. The sound quality is equally effective on the hands-free mode. The 3.2 megapixel camera performs below expectation and delivers average quality pictures, despite giving various settings for white balance, EV 2.0, effects, etc.
The video quality is also poor as the output stutters when moved quickly. Q75 is not a complete phone, but is not a loser either. It has a powerful 1200mAh battery, which gives us ten hours of backup when we played music on it continuously. Otherwise it lasted for just about four days on normal usage including around one hour of calling daily!
Q75 is a good networking phone with WiFi capability, BlueTooth, GPRS, Java and has in-built Facebook, Opera, Youtube, Google, Snaptu App and Nimbuzz multimedia messenger. It has a multi-format music player for MP3, MIDI, AMR, WAV with background music playback, along with an expandable memory of 8 GB.
Q75 is priced at Rs 7,999, which is a Rs 1,000 more than its predecessor Q5fb. Micromax Q7 is another qwerty phone with WiFi and dual SIM, but has a 2mp camera and a memory of only 4GB. Overall, Q75 is a decent phone with its highs and lows. We would suggest you check out the Q7 before going for this one as the camera performance hardly accounts for on both phones.
