Who will be this years fastest bowler This question will be the uppermost on the minds of thousands of aspirants and viewers across the country during the second edition Scorpio Speedster 2004 contest, the nationwide hunt to select Indias fastest bowler which will commence on September 30 in Mumbai.

This unique 10 city hunt will be organised and conducted by IMG, the worlds largest sports and entertainment management and marketing company, with the automobile major Mahindra & Mahindra as the title sponsor. It will be presented in association with Khadi Line and Adidas.

Chirstened as the Scorpio Speedster after Mahindras sports utility vehicle, the event has its very heart a dream -a dream that somewhere in this nation of one billion people Indias next speed ace lies waiting to be discovered. Scorpio Speedster hopes to give that unrecognised talent a platform to achieve national, and ultimately, international recognition.

Mahindra & Mahindra vice-chairnman and managing director Anand Mahindra in a statement said, We at Mahindras believe that Indians are second to none. Nurturing young talent today is an investment in Indias future. Not only is the Scorpio Speedster hunt consistent with Scorpios brand positioning but it also reflects fundamental Mahindra values of leadership and good corporate citizenship.

This years participation will try to beat the record set by Karnatakas ace bowler NC Aiyappa, Indias first Scorpio Speedster, who emerged the winner in 2003 with a speed of 135 km per hour in a nail-biting final. His superlative effort enabled Aiyappa to hone his fast-bowling skills at a three-week training course under Aussie fast bowler Damien Fleming at the Australian Centre of Excellence in Birsbane.
