In recent months, Indians have been paying unbearably high prices for food items and other essential commodities. This is the result of years of neglect towards agriculture, our economy?s backbone. It?s now essential that the government bans forward trading of all agricultural products, extends the PDS, and cracks down on hoarding. The government also needs to promote organic farming, which is highly beneficial for consumers and small farmers.

The embezzlement charges levelled against former BCCI chief Jagmohan Dalmiya show the depths of disgrace Indian cricket administration has fallen to. The cricket board should examine the scandal seriously to ensure that the guilty are punished without fear or favour. And also, it is time to set up a watchdog to keep tabs on future misuse of authority.
