Techtran Polylenses floats new arm to tap domestic market

Techtran Polylenses Ltd, a 100 per cent EOU and manufacturer of plastic ophthalmic lenses, has floated a subsidiary - Techtran Ophthalmics Private Ltd with a view to tapping the domestic plastic lenses market.

Techtran Ophthalmics, a prescription and surfacing laboratory, would offer a same day service for those of the Bifocal and Progressives prescriptions, which require subsequent surfacing operation, where there are only few operators in India, Techtran Polylenses managing editor KV Rao told mediamen here on Thursday.

This new subsidiary would enable the company to up its domestic share from 5 per cent to 15 per cent by next year, he said.

Not only that the laboratory would provide the customers with the entire range of lenses for Plastic Rx prescriptions of single, bifocal, progressive, lenticular, hi-index, hard coated and SunSensor as a single source point, he said. In order to counter the growing competition from China, Thailand, Techtran Polylenses has recently introduced value-added products to maintain its growth in the US and West European markets, he said.

The new products include Vartek, which serves the latest no-line, progressive market segment, scratch resistance coating lenses, sun‘n’lite and ‘prolite’ brands of plastic photochromatic SunSensor lenses, Mr Rao said.

Techtran Polylenses is also having a wide range of products such as bifocal, progressive and cataract lenses. It has range of finished and semi-finished lenses like single vision, hi-index, flat-top, segment bifocals, round-top, blended, alpheric single vision, etc, Mr Rao said.
