US Republican Party nominee Kevin Mannix is on a campaign trail challenging democrat Ted Kulongoski for the Oregon Governors post. There is Senator Gordon Smiths campaign seeking re-election to the US senate. Events that do not ring a bill in India but are of absolute importance for TechSpeed Inc.

Based in Portland, Oregon, TechSpeed is developing the first Web-based campaign database for the Oregon Republican party, the Mannix Governorship campaign as well as the Senator Smith re-election. There is a mad rush to complete work for the election scheduled for November 5. TechSpeed is hoping to do some work for this project from the new development facility set up in Pune, says Bhagyarekha Plainfield, CEO, TechSpeed.

At the inauguration of the Indian operations, Plainfiled said the company would be looking at doing projects for small and medium size businesses in the US. TechSpeed will also be doing R&D work from Pune for Plainfield Software, a venture promoted by Bhagyarekha Plainfield and Richard Plainfield. Plainfield Software has a patented product called GuestBook - a data management system focused on the retail industry. It is a kiosk-based software system that enables customers to provide feedback on-site at retail stores. It picks up the information and helps companies direct marketing efforts accordingly.

We will look at upgrading our GuestBook product in India and also bring down the prices of the product significantly, she said. She plans to hike the team strength in Pune to 100 by the end of the year with investments of around $800,000.
