TDP MLAs murder triggers tension in Andhra Pradesh

Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MLA and former minister Paritala Ravindra was killed in a bomb blast in Anantapur on Monday afternoon. His death has trigerred violent protests around the state. Reports of violence have come in from Medak, Karimnagar and Warangal. TDP workers in many parts of the state capital damaged state-owned RTC buses and also damaged many shops. Some shops were seen downing shutters fearing damage.

Meanwhile, TDP supremo and former Chief Minister N. Chandra Babu Naidu condemned the brutal killing of Mr Paritala and called for a state-wide bandh on Tuesday protesting the killing of his party MLA. It is reported that Mr Naidu met the Governor Sushil Kumar Shinde in the afternoon and asked him to impose Governors rule in the state. He also urged the Governor to order a CBI probe into the murder of Mr Paritala.

Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy in a statement expressed shock and condemned the brutal killing of Mr Paritala. Dr Reddy said that there will be a comprehensive investigation into the killing and the government will act tough in this matter.
