In a career spanning more than 20 years, Ajit Joshi has been an integral part of the retail industry. As managing director and chief executive of Infiniti Retail Ltd, 100% subsidiary of Tata Sons, he is spearheading the launch and expansion of Croma mega storesthe country's first multi-brand specialised retail store chain for electronics and consumer durables. Joshi says that the group took a scientific approach for the Croma launch, Before the actual launch, we closely looked at the demography of the country and found that while there were similar stores in South India, there wasnt any major chain in the North where the consumer could see all electronics or durables under one roof, he adds. This insight prompted the Tatas to foray into the sector. He has huge expectations from the chain and is confident about the future. At our stores the consumer will be able to compare all the brands of any particular product. He doesn't need to go from store to store, and thus, he will get the best choice. He is upbeat about the future and says, We plan to have 100 stores in Gujarat, Maharashtra, Bangalore, Calcutta and NCR by 2010.
