Tata Power has bagged two contracts worth Rs 149 crore from Power Grid Corporation of India to install 400kv double circuit transmission lines in Jammu and Kashmir.

Under the contract, Tata Power will install the 105-km-long Kishenpur-Thathar and 59km double circuit Thathar-Wagoora transmission lines, the company said. A 20-km single circuit 400kv transmission Thathar-Wagoora transmission line would also be laid by the company. The transmission lines would provide stable and increased supply of electricity to the power-deficit Jammu and Kashmir and facilitate transfer of power from Uri to the National Grid, it said. The project area is largely snow-bound with mountains, hills and deep gorges spread across 80 per cent of the path posing challenges in construction and laying of transmission lines.
