Tata Motors, which has three automobile units and two greenfield plants under construction, on Thursday said it will be setting up another brand new facility to meet rising demand.

While the companys fourth and fifth auto plants are taking shape in Uttarakhand and Singur, a sixth facility has been planned, Tata Motors managing director Ravi Kant said on Thursday, but withheld details of where it would be located.
He, however, said the sixth plant would be completed within a period of four years and said the greenfield plants would be bigger than the existing facilities at Pune, Lucknow and Jamshedpur.
While the Uttarakhand plant, which would manufacture Ace mini trucks, would commence production shortly, construction of the small-car plant at Singur was in full swing.
The Uttarakhand plant has a production capacity of 2.5 lakh units per annum, he said, adding that Tata was also in the process of setting up a development technical institute in Europe.
