Joining the bandwagon of companies slashing mobile Internet tariffs, telecom operator Tata Docomo has announced a cut in its 2G and 3G mobile Internet rates by a whopping 90% from 10 paise to 1 paisa per kilobytes from July 1.

"This will increase data penetration and a 90% discount will serve as a customer-friendly yet clear differentiator for our customers," Tata Docomo's head of marketing Gurinder Singh Sandhu said in a statement.

The revised tariffs will be applicable on 2G mobile Internet packs offered by the company on recharge values of R126 (2GB for 30 days), R149 (2.5GB for 30 days) and R249 (3GB for 60 days) and 3G data pack R255 (2GB for 30 days).

Last week, Vodafone, Airtel and Idea Cellular had slashed Internet rates in select service areas by up to 90%.
