Suzuki To Give Rs 1,000-crore Cheque Today

Suzuki will move into the drivers seat at the countrys largest car manufacturer Maruti Udyog on Thursday. Its chairman O Suzuki will personally tender a cheque of Rs 1,000 crore to the government for acquiring control of the company.

A flurry of changes will follow - the board of directors will be reconstituted with Suzuki Motor getting 6 seats and government two, while managing director Jagdish Khattar will continue, but as a Suzuki nominee.
