The news channel will be packaged with an "international look and feel" and offer news bulletins, talk shows and indepth analysis revolving around politics, crime, sports, technology, automobile, trends, fashion and much more, the Channel's Chief of News Sashidhar Bhatt told a press conference in Bangalore.
The channel is the first in Karnataka to provide a 30-minute slot for cultural news, which has not been attempted by any of the regional language channels in the state,he said. The Channel's COO, Sanjay Prabhu said it has invested Rs100 crore including that on purchasing new Kannada movies. He said it has set a target of achieving Rs 30 crore revenue earning through advertisements during this year and achieve break-even by next year.
To mark the launching of its news channel, it also announced that it would present Suvarna Kannadiga award to the Director of Kidwai Institute of Oncology Dr Vijayalakshmi Deshmane for her contribution to the state in the field of oncology on March 31.
The award would be an annual feature hereafter, he said.
