Subex Systems Betting Big On CDMA Opportunities

Telecom software product company Subex Systems is looking at Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) technology as a potential business opportunity.

The company is primarily into design, development and implementation of revenue maximisation models for telecom companies. Subexs clients in the Indian market at this stage include telecom service providers like Bharti, BPL and Idea. Globally, the clientele comprises America Tel, Global Crossing and Sprint. Among the companys products are RevMax, which is the revenue maximisation suite and Ranger, a fraud management system.

According to Subex Systems president and CEO Subash Menon, discussions have been initiated with some of the limited mobility (WLL) service providers and some contracts are expected to be signed. We are a technology-neutral company and therefore are in a position to provide services to all kinds of operators, he added.

A large chunk of Subex Systems revenue comes from the overseas market. The company is present across Europe, US, Africa and Asia. Stating that the company would continue to focus on overseas markets, Mr Menon said it would also look at the Chinese market. Apart from the above mentioned products, the company is in the process of working on another product to be launched over the next few months.

Subex Systems recorded a turnover of Rs 70 crore in the previous financial year. We are targeting a turnover of Rs 80 crore for the current fiscal and a profit of Rs 18 crore, said Mr Menon. Other companies in the Subex Group are Subex Cellcomm and Subex Technologies. Subex Systems went public in 1999 and is listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange and the National Stock Exchange.
