Recently it was reported that Classteacher Learning Systemsthe online education companyis introducing digital white boards and its Classpad tablets in partner schools across the country. Rohit Pande, CEO & co-founder, Classteacher Learning Systems, believes such initiatives are the need of the hour as schools, especially in urban India, are rapidly adopting technology to supplement teaching-learning processes. In an interaction with FEs Vikram Chaudhary, he says that the company aims to work with various state governments and other stakeholders to evolve a pragmatic paradigm of educational innovation.

How did the concept of Classteacher Learning Systems come about

Classteacher was founded on the principle of driving innovation in education through the creative application of technology. It has evolved over the last 14 years along with changing technology and also as we have gathered more evidence on what creates learning through classroom practice and rigorous research. Our tools are used by over 20 lakh students and about 1 lakh teachers, fostering billions of learning transactions that are redefining education delivery in tune with our times.

Where has digital technology really benefited students and at what class levels How is Classpad different from other solutions available in the market

Students are naturally keen to adopt technology as a tool for learning, research, communication and self-expression. Classpad is a personalised tablet solution that seamlessly blends schools work and self-learning. It has tools for classroom monitoring, assessments, self-learning and collaboration. Classpad platform is not just an early mover in this space, but is building significant entry barriers as more users enter the platform for tablet learning.

What exactly are smart-class solutions and how different are they from traditional teaching

Smart-class solutions are tools that are being used in the classroom for teaching, assessment and student monitoring. They support traditional teaching by bringing subject and pedagogical expertise and data analytics to support teachers.

How have smart-class solutions evolved over time

As teachers are getting more accustomed to digital tools, we see them keen to explore more interactive resources and also seek to create their own resources with the lesson building tools that we provide them. Teachers are also experimenting with our tablet solutionClasspadand trying out tools to further personalise education delivery. We are seeing the beginning of mobile learning. As costs of smartphones and connectivity are coming down, we see an exponential growth in all formats of mobile learning.

Are schools opening to this way of education or are they still comfortable with traditional ways

Schools are rapidly adopting technology to supplement teaching-learning processes. Our more successful implementations are characterised by focus on teacher training, commitment of time and resources, and a strong change management leadership in the school. Parents are supportive of such a transformation. Schools shall take leadership in the years to come through a judicious implementation of technology.

Also, what are your immediate expansion plans

Classteacher has been working on expanding its brand franchise to work with schools as well as directly with parents and students to enhance the learning process. We are constantly investing in R&D to create cloud-based mobile solutions that can personalise education delivery through analytics. We are building the Classpad brand to reach out to learners in India and outside with a cutting-edge solution. We also hope to work with various state governments and other stakeholders to evolve a pragmatic paradigm of educational innovation.
