Indonesian consumer confidence increased in June from May bolstered mainly by the “present situation” index, a central bank survey showed on Tuesday.
The index showed an increase in job availability, income and on-time purchase of durable goods.
The central bank’s consumer confidence index rose to 113.7 in June from 112.1 in May.
A reading above 100 indicates respondents are optimistic.
However, consumers showed lowest expectations for income and job availability in the next six months, though still in the optimistic level.
According to the survey of about 4,600 participants in 18 major cities, Indonesian consumers foresaw inflationary pressures softening in September especially for food and clothing.
Indonesia’s annual inflation rate slightly rose to 3.45 percent in June from 3.33 percent in May.
