The BJP plans to counter Congress?s aam aadmi with ?Small Indian? (?His economics in three pages?, Mar 21). But LK Advani?s unqualified approval of the ?Modi model? is an obvious case of the BJP?s spin machine at work. It?s as if Advani?s political, rather than economic, preference for Modi is being revealed.

A priori decoupling
Not long ago, the finance minister said that India?s economy is decoupled from economies of the US and other major countries. Recent events have proved him wrong. However, Chidambaram is right if you look the issue from an altogether different angle. We have decoupled from the developed world in the areas of honesty, good governance, transparency, efficient and honest judiciary, self-discipline, work ethics, standards of living, infrastructure development, etcetera.
