Spice Telecom Slashes Mobile STD Prices

Spice Telecom on Monday announced new tariff plans for post-paid and pre-paid subscribers including a slash in mobile STD rates by 33 per cent. `The Freedom-200' plan for post-paid allows subscribers to make outgoing calls to mobile at Re 1.80 per minute and at Rs 2.50 per minute to other phones during peak hours. Monthly rental is Rs 200 for this plan with a minimum commitment of Rs 300 by the subscriber, a company release said. `The Freedom 249' plan for pre-paid customers allows outgoing calls at Re 1.75 per minute to mobiles and at Rs 2 per minute to other networks during 9 am to 9 pm. During 9 pm to 9 am, the subscriber can make outgoing calls to mobile phones at Rs 1.25 per minute and to other phones at Rs 1.75 per minute. The monthly rental for this plan is Rs 249, it said.

NIOC Nominee On CPCL Board
Mr Mahmood Vaezi of International Policy, Centre for Strategic Research, Naftiran Intertrade Co. Ltd. Tehran, has been nominated as a director on the board of Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited by National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC), one of the promoters of CPCL. He will be in place of Mr S M Mortazavi, said a company's intimation to the National Stock Exchange.

Housing Package For SC, ST In Kerala
The Kerala government has set up a Rs 500-crore housing fund for shelter-less Scheduled Castes and Tribes in the state. The state government will find funds for this from a World Bank loan, minister for scheduled castes and tribes Dr M A Kuttappan has said.
