Span To Now Market Leather Shoes

Span Apparels Pvt Ltdmanufacturers of Spykar Apparelsis now diversifying into the leather shoe market for the first time in India. The gameplan here is not to manufacture leather shoes in India but enter into a brand licensing arrangement with a Dubai-based company called Seasand Trading Ltd which will enable Span Apparels to get leather shoes from China and introduce them in India under the umbrella brand Spykar, Span Apparels Pvt Ltd managing director Prasad Pabrekar told FE.

On the companys new plans, Mr Pabrekar said: In the next six months, we will start marketing Spykar shoes through outlets which have a presence of Spykar apparel. At present, we have three franchise-operated Spkykar showrooms, 35 shop-in-shops within premium retail outlets (chain stores) and 250 multi-branded outlets across the country.

In a bid to gain a competitive edge, Span Apparels is planning to shift its focus from expanding multi-branded outlets to concentrate on increasing its number of Spykar exclusive showrooms to around 10 within a year. In addition, the company is planning to increase its shop-in-shops of Spykar apparel to 150 as well.

As part of its customer relationship management initiative, Span Apparels Pvt Ltd brand manager Rahul Akkara, said the company is planning to set up Spykar Style Lab within its exclusive showrooms. As part of the activity, on the purchase of Spykar apparel, customers will be provided with free hair colour service from Wella and Bausch & Lomb contact lenses, among other things.

In order to develop better proximity with customers and get suggestions from them, the company is also planning to introduce its own Website called spykarindia.com soon, added Mr Pabrekar.

As for its exports thrust, after having tapped UAE and Saudi Arabia, the company is now planning to set up a distribution-hub for Spykar Apparels in Australia at an investment of Rs 50 lakh in the next six months. In addition, it is also planning to foray into the Malaysian market.
