Software Testing Leadership Awards announced

QAI, the worlds leading consulting and workforce development firm addressing Operational Excellence, announced the much awaited Software Testing Leadership Awards on 19th November at the 9th Annual International Software Testing Conference 2009. Ramakrishnan Sitaraman, Bharathy Ramalingam and Srinivasan N. from CSS emerged as the winners. Their paper was about Cloud Testing Go-Cloud based performance testing. Ajay Garg and Himanshu Pandey from Aricent were chosen as the first runner-up for the award for their paper on Increasing Test Effectiveness Using 4P Approach and Statistical Models. The second runner-up spot was awarded to Muralidhar Yalla and Ramnath Shanbag from Mindtree for their paper on Building an Automation Framework around Open Source Technologies. The awards were given away at a glittering ceremony at the Le Meridian, Bangalore on the Awards Night at STC 2009 on 19th November 2009.

For the awards, a record breaking number of 418 author intent forms which was the all-time highest received for any conference conducted in the past 10 years in India, were received. After the initial technical screening by the internal panel at QAI and Edista Testing, a total of 180 papers were finalized for regional rounds in 6 cities Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, and New Delhi. The regional rounds were regionally organized and hosted by Deloitte Consulting in Mumbai; Cap Gemini in Pune; Maveric Systems in Chennai, McAfee in Bangalore, DE Shaw in Hyderabad, and CSC in New Delhi. The jury panel consisted of 24 eminent leaders from DE Shaw, Microsoft, Medha Solutions, Maveric, Cognizant, HP, McAfee, Infosys, IBM, HCL, Keane, ITC Infotech, NXP, Deloitte, Patni, Nomura Securities, Cap Gemini, Amdocs, and Barclays, Headstrong, QA Infotech, CSC, and Sopros, headed by the Chief of Jury Ms. Ranjana Narawane of Accenture.

The papers were evaluated on concept (30%), content (30%), presentation (20%); and value contribution (20%), for a total score of 100 points. Based on the scores in the regional rounds, a total of 36 papers were selected from a shortlist of 180 in the regional rounds for presentation at the conference. Out of these, CSS, Aricent and Mindtree were awarded at the Awards Night as the winners.

The Award announcements were also the highlight of the 9th Software Testing Conference (STC 2009). The two day conference concluded on Friday.
