There are many great success stories that have inspired me at different points in my life, but if I were to choose one, it would be that of Infosys Chief Mentor NR Narayana Murthy, who has inspired and influenced many lives across the globe and proved to the world how determination and hard work can turn dreams into a reality.

It was his relentless efforts and the hard work that has resulted into Infosys Technologies turning into a four billion dollar company from just a seven men enterprise when it started. Murthy is an epitome of the fact that honesty, transparency, and moral integrity are not at variance with business acumen. He is undoubtedly The Icon of Indian IT.

Despite his humble beginning, it was his vision and perseverance that has made him what he is today. In 1981, when he started Infosys Technologies, India had not even heard of IT; it was his foresight that has made Infosys synonymous to the IT sector in India, eventually leading to a change in the way the world looks at India.

The philosophy of simple living, high thinking is best illustrated by Murthys life. His way of corporate governance has been ideal yet, very growth focused. His company was the first in India to adopt a code of corporate transparency and to offer stock options to its employees, introducing the concept of democratisation of wealth and setting an example for the others. He set new standards in corporate governance and morality when he stepped down as the Executive Chairman of Infosys at the age of 60.

Apart from his corporate success, he is also known for his association with the education sector and his continuous efforts for the betterment of the youth. He is the chairman of the governing body of the International Institute of Information Technology, Bangalore and IIM, Ahmedabad. He has also been associated with many other highly reputed universities around the world. This is proof of his inclination towards the development of the youth across the globe. As a true citizen, he has also been actively involved with lot of social initiatives through Infosys Foundation, which has done some commendable work in the field of healthcare, education, social rehabilitation and arts.

I have always tried to follow his mantras in my personal life as well as while carrying out my professional duties throughout my career. I continuously try to imbibe his business values and ethics of corporate governance at Telcordia and take it to greater heights with utmost honesty and hard work.
