Shahid Kapoor’s ‘Haider’ box office collections plunge on Day 8

Shahid Kapoor’s ‘Haider’ box office collections on Week 1 fall way short of Rs 50 crore mark.

Shahid Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor starrer ‘Haider’ box office collections fell to new low of Rs 2.55 crore on the 8th day of its release.

Since its release, ‘Haider’ have not really made any waves at the box office despite getting good reviews with people not turning up in droves to watch the movie. And the box office collection figures clearly reflect this.

In this analysis, we take a look at the success of ‘Haider’ at the domestic box office and also track the film’s numbers overseas.

In fact, ‘Haider’ collections have yet to touch the halfway figure to Rs 100 crore mark, with the film’s Week 1 business falling short of Rs 50 crore at Rs 41 crore. Even if we add the overseas figures to the domestic collections, the overall numbers (gross) come to only Rs 49.52 crore.

‘Haider’ box office collections had been Rs 6.14 crore on opening day, far below the year’s others releases ? at No 17 ? 14 places below Hrithik Roshan’s ‘Bang Bang’ (Rs 27.54 crore), which was released on the same day as the Shahid Kapoor-Shraddha Kapoor starrer.

In the week ahead, ‘Bang Bang’ is set to remain first choice for moviegoers, even with this Friday’s releases, and ‘Haider’ a distant second. Though Vishal Bhardwaj’s ‘Haider’, has definitely recovered the cost of production, it doesn’t look like to be a film to remember in 2014, at least business-wise.

Here’s the day-to-day box office collections of ‘Haider’:

Day 1 (Thu): Rs 6.14 cr

Day 2 (Fri): Rs 6.93 cr

Day 3 (Sat): Rs 6.38 cr

Day 4 (Sun): Rs 7.33 cr

Day 5 (Mon): Rs 5.03 cr

Day 6 (Tue): Rs 3.57 cr

Day 7 (Wed): Rs 3.07 cr

Day 8 (Thu): Rs 2.55 cr

Overseas: Rs 8.52 crore (Including Rs 3.98 crore from UAE/GCC)
