To expanding Haryana's business portfolio, the State Bank of India (SBI) has tied with the state government for the collection of stamp duty. Under the agreement stamp duty exceeding Rs 10,000 can be deposited through SBI in Haryana by paying nominal fee. Having the network of 146 branches in the state, SBI will launch the facility in its district headquarters, covering the entire state. The service will kick-off in mid April.

Talking to FE, a senior official of SBI said, "Currently, people are paying stamp duty for registration of their property through government treasuries. But soon the consumers will have another option to deposit through our bank, which will be a safer bet as consumers can be saved from fake stamp paper deceits. On depositing the stamp duty with the bank, the customer will get receipt which will bear the signature of the authorised bank officer and will also carry the hologram of the bank."
