Three months after its announcement, Satyam Computer Services Limited (SCSL) has launched its Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) services under the newly floated company Nipuna Services Ltd.

Located at Cyber Gateways near Hitec City, Nipunas BPO facility is equipped with state-of-the-art computing and communication infrastructure. The 13,000-sq ft BPO facility was inaugurated by chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu here on Thursday.

Nipuna Services would provide a wide range of BPO services which would initially cover human resources, finance and accounting customer contact and industry-specific transaction processing services. This will enable its global customers to focus on their core business functions delegating critical and IT-intensive business processes to Nipuna which will own, administer and manage these processes defined by a set of performance matrix.

Addressing the gathering, Satyam chairman B Ramalinga Raju said, It is a value creation through strategic outsourcing. The BPO is a $250 billion market today and would double to $402 billion by 2003 and this market will expand further, he added.

Nipuna Services was built on Satyams existing soft asset base which includes customer base, size, investor base, process maturity, associate base and brand equity, Mr Raju said.

The centre is linked to the US and other markets by high-speed connections with multiple redundancies. It has IPLC (Internet Protocol Leased Connectivity) through fibre optics and satellite channels through 24/7 service.

The 200-seater facility would particularly address the concerns of customers regarding information and data security through a multi-level security strategy. A major initiative is the disaster recovery management system which would match BS 7799 standards, he said.

It is a well-known fact that globally corporations are moving towards BPO as a strategic initiative to enhance their competitive edge. Recognising the strategic importance of BPO services in our growth strategy, we decided to establish a subsidiary to focus exclusively on a wide range of BPO offerings, Mr Raju said.

With our long-term relationship with 70-odd Fortune 500 companies and alliances with 50 technology companies apart from a close relationship with 8 big companies in the world, Nipuna would be able to tap the potential business opportunities that exists through these relationships, Mr Raju pointed out.

We are also confident that the vertical domain expertise that Satyam has garnered over the years and the credibility that the Satyam brand name will add value to the BPO services that Nipuna will offer to prospective customers, Mr Raju claimed.
