It?s official now. Satya Sai Baba had no will and his caretaker Satyajit has no membership in the Sathya Sai Baba Central Trust. The trust will soon have a new chairman. These were disclosed during a press conference on Thursday.

The Trust members clarified that Satya Sai Baba had left behind no will. They stated that the spiritual leader always maintained and claimed that he did not have a single rupee to his name and that all the assets are property of the Trust and hence he could write no will. According to a few reported estimates, the assets of the Trust could be over R40,000 crore to R60,000 crore.

When queried about the signatures on the cheques, the Trust members said that only Satya Sai Baba had the power to sign them. ??The future course of action on this aspect would be decided in the next meeting,?? Venu Srinivasan, CMD, TVS Motors and a trust member said. He also ruled out any outsider?s appointment to the post. ??The selection of new chief will happen as early as possible. Maybe in three to four days or by next week,?? he added.

Baba, who was the Trust?s chairman since its inception, had no property, bank account, flat or land in his name. ??He had repeatedly said his properties are his devotees. All the property is in the name of the trust and every rupee is accounted for,?? the Trust?s lawyer, SS Naganand, told the media.

Also, his death is getting shrouded in mystery as to whether he died on April 24 or much earlier. Many insiders have claimed even for a CBI enquiry as everything was kept confidential with respect to clinical reports even while the treating doctors never ruled out any improvement in his health.

However, the trust members clarified that there was no suspect about his death and his nephew RJ Ratnakar was briefed about his health while he was in the hospital.

Meanwhile, the battle for succession after Satya Sai Baba?s death still continues. A cold war between Satyajit (caretaker) and Ratnakar (nephew) is brewing, say sources. Besides, with the state government becoming a silent spectator, the members are in full swing to find a suitable chairman to manage the R40,000-crore assets.

??There is no question of the government taking over the management of the Trust. We will not interfere with its functioning,?? Andhra Pradesh revenue minister N Raghuveera

Reddy had said in an earlier interaction.
