Inaugurating the campaign in soccer-crazy Kolkata, Mr R Zutshi, VP-sales, Samsung India Electronics, said the company expects to notch up sales amounting to Rs 310 crore during May and June when the World Cup fever will be at its peak.
“The Samsung Dabaake Jeeto Offer is an effort from our part to stimulate the market and optimise sales of our products during the football World Cup. It will also go a long way to achieve our overall sales target of Rs 1,520 crore during the calendar year 2002,” Mr Zutshi said.
Under the Dabaake Jeeto Offer, every customer purchasing a Samsung consumer electronics or home appliances product will get an alarm clock as a free gift. The alarm clock comes packed in a plastic football that is given to the customer at the time of the purchase. On pressing the football from the top, the customer gets the alarm clock and if lucky, he will find a tamper-proof anodised sticker and wins the gift that is etched on the sticker.
The gifts range from Samsung digital flat TVs to refrigerators and microwave ovens.
Samsung is spending Rs 10 crore on gifts and another Rs 5 crore on promoting the campaign. The company had last year launched a similar campaign called “Phod Ke Dekho Offer” during the Pujas.
To boost sales during the period, Samsung has introduced several products including CTVs, projection TVs and frost-free refrigerators.
