"We already have nine models of 3G enabled handsets (in the range of Rs 7,000 and Rs 40,000) and we intend to launch seven more such sets in this year," Samsung Mobile Country Head Sunil Dutt said in Chandigarh.
However, he did not divulge the projected price range of yet to be launched 3G enabled handsets.
Acknowledging that the 3G mobile telephony would spur demand for new handsets, he added that the demand for 3G handsets would depend on applications offered by companies.
"3G is going to prove trigger for growth of new handsets as it would definitely impact the replacement market of mobile handsets positively in view of the improvement in the efficiency of quality of voice and data transfer.
But much will depend upon the applications to be offered to customers which will determine the demand for 3G sets," he asserted.
