A five-year-old curly-haired kid with an impish smile holding his first cricket bat...that was the beginning of a journey for Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar and it has indeed been one that folklore, or movie scripts, are made of.

Today, 24 years later as Sachin turns 29, he’s crossed many a boundaries to reach a milestone. Incidentally, the youth icon has also completed a decade of partnership with the soft drink brand Pepsi, this year.

As a tribute to the Little Master, who celebrated his 29th birthday on Wednesday, and also scored his 29th century a few days ago, Pepsi launched a 25-second medley of Sachin over the years—capturing his progress through the series of memorable TV ads that he did for the brand during his 10-year long association. The ad, put together by Pepsi’s ad agency HTA in a record 18-hours time, was aired on Wednesday on all major TV news channels as well.

Sachin made his debut for Pepsi, engaging in arm-wrestling with his school chum Vinod Kambli for his favourite soft drink, and then went on to feature in the famous ‘Nothing Official About It’ campaign for the World Cup cricket in India. His ‘Sachin Aya Re’ campaign and the ‘Mask’ ad with the kids went on to achieve huge popularity across the country. However, the highpoint came when Sachin paired up with film star Shah Rukh Khan to create the ‘Yeh Dil Maange More’ series of ads. More recently, Sachin has paired up with yet another legend—Amitabh Bachchan—for the latest Pepsi ad, which is currently on air.
