The rupee on Friday rallied for the second straight day and appreciated 14 paise to end at an over one-month high.
The rupee opened strong at 45.26 a dollar from previous close of 45.35. It later touched a high of 45.15 in line with initial rise in domestic equities. However, dollar selling after morning deals by exporters and some banks amid weakness in equities pulled the rupee down to a low of 45.30 before recovering some ground to conclude at 45.21, still higher than previous close.
The bond yields ended higher on Friday. The most-traded 8.13% 2022 bond yield ended 1 basis point (bp) higher at 8.15% after falling to 8.13% earlier in the day.
The 2022 bond yield has fallen around 13 bps since February 7.
