RRO to launch Italian olive oil in 80,000 outlets

Edible oil manufacturer and marketer R R Oomerbhoy Pvt Ltd (RRO) will launch Italian olive oil brand - Filippo Berio - in 80,000 outlets across India in the next one month.

Filippo Berio olive oil, a brand of the Salov Group, Italy, has high mono-unsaturated fatty acid content with Vitamins A and E and is recommended by health professionals as an alternative for other cooking oils, company Managing Director Riyad Oomerbhoy told reporters here.

"We are importing and launching the product pan India.

We will make it available in 80,000 outlets in India in a month," he said, adding that the product will be available in retail outlets and malls.

He said that the company is eyeing to double the number of outlets in the next three years.

On investment he said "in the next three years, the company plans to invest around Rs 15-20 crore."

The boom in Indian economy has enhanced the standard of living. The Indian consumer has a sizable amount of disposable income with the propensity to spend, he said.

"Increasingly aware of a healthy lifestyle, the Indian consumer is now ready to experiment and explore the various options," he added.
