It is likely to sign an agreement with a German company for technology and development support within the next two months.
"We have had discussions with the consultant for helping us with this exercise. RRBEL has already zeroed in on a German company and will be buying the technology from them," Sarvesh Kumar, deputy managing director of the company, told FE without divulging the name of the entity.
"This move would call for an investment of Rs 75-100 crore for technology acquisition alone. The agreement is under preparation and both the entities will be signing on the dotted lines in about two months. Launch of WEG of 3 mw capacity is expected to happen in 2012. The firm needs land to house the facility, which would come up in Chennai," he said.
RRBEL is already in the process of expanding its range of blades required for WEGs with the inclusion of the 13m length blade for the 225 kw WEG, in its existing portfolio. In the year 2011-12, the company expects 20% of its overall turnover to come from exports from the current level of 5%.
