The empress of Indian haute couture Ritu Kumar is all set to open her first official franchise in Pakistan next month.

Kumar, one of the best-known designers in India for her zardozi and chicken work, will retail her designs from Ensemble, a boutique in the southern port city of Karachi.

Pakistan's Zeba Hussain, who has been instrumental in getting many Indian designers to showcase their collections across the border, has been stocking Kumar's designs for the past many years and her boutique Ensemble will be the first store in Pakistan to sell designer clothes by Kumar.

Hussain also stocks designs by Indian designers Tarun Tahiliani, Rohit Bal, Manish Malhotra and Suneet Varma at her retail outlet.

Kumar's clothes, especially her bridal wears, have already been doing roaring business in Karachi and the opening of the franchise during Eid is all set to become a great hit in the country.
