Statistics and programme implementation minister Oscar Fernandes told the Parliament on Wednesday that the main objectives of the revision are to simplify the MPLADS implementation and to identify responsibility and accountability at different administrative levels of implementation of the scheme.
As on June 30, 2005, the government had released a sum of Rs 14,059 crore for the scheme. About 95.65% of the amount released was sanctioned, with the sum totalling Rs 13,447 crore. The amount available with the nodal district authorities including interest was about Rs 14,344 crore.
