A government appointed one-man panel that is investigating alleged graft charges against retail giant Wal-Mart in India will submit its report by April, Parliament was informed on Wednesday. The government has decided to appoint a one-man committee regarding media reports concerning Wal-Mart vide resolution dated 31.1.2013. The committee has been asked to submit its report within three months from issuance of the resolution, MoS for commerce and industry S Jagathrakshakan said in a written reply.
In January, the cabinet had decided the probe will be conducted by a retired judge of Supreme Court or the Chief Justice of a high court. The panel was mandated to probe if Wal-Mart had indulged in lobbying activities by violating Indian laws to gain access to its market.
