Replicate BPO Success Story In IT, Telecom Sector

British Telecom Group CEO Ben Verwaayen has asked the Indian IT and telecom industry to replicate the business process outsourcing (BPO) success story in other industry segments as well.

Addressing the National Association of Software and Service Companies (Nasscom) and British Telecom organised CEO forum here, he said the outsourcing market in 1990 was 15 million pound. Fifteen years later, it is a $15-billion market.

Who could have thought that India would be at the heart of the US elections Through the triangle of knowledge, creativity and entrepreneurship, India has created a successful business model in the BPO sphere, he said. Mr Verwaayen said: It is incredible that in 2003, the US pharmaceutical industry outsourced all its fundamental R&D. Outsourcing is inevitable and unstoppable.

It is a part of the globalisation process, which is about bringing the best in class together.
