With substantive improvement in the supply of LPG, the Parliamentary consultative committee attached to the ministry of petroleum and natural gas, on Tuesday decided that oil companies should be asked to resume release of new connections from December 1, 2005. The oil marketing companies were earlier asked to restrict release of new connections following shortages of LPG to facilitate smooth servicing.

The committee was informed that the LPG backlog in the country was only 8.5 TMT while the national average monthly requirement was 900 TMT. It was also pointed out that the country had only a shortfall of around 1% in LPG.
