Rehab package for HIL, MECL likely to be in Cabinet agenda

The Union Cabinet is likely to take up on Thursday a rehabilitation package for Hindustan Insecticides Ltd proposed by the ministry of chemicals and fertilisers for clearance. Financial restructuring of the Mineral Exploration Corporation Ltd (MECL) proposed by the mining ministry is also set to be taken up by the Cabinet. Winding up of Bharat Gold Mines Ltd may also be approved.

A purchase preference policy for products of pharma PSEs, IDPL, HAL, Bengal Chemicals, Rajashthan Drugs and their subsidiaries would also considered by the Cabinet, official sources said. An amendment to the Central Silk Board (CSB) Act, with a view to making its functions more effective, might also get Cabinet clearance on Thursady.

A detailed framework for implementation of the National Rural Health Mission is also up for Cabinets consideration.

The model concession agreement in respect of Bangalore International Airport Ltd would be modified. This is in view of the re-design of initial phase of the project.
