Sounding alarm bells over poor monsoons, a visiting central team has described the drought situation in Rajasthan as a matter of great concern. The team will present the final report to the Centre.

A central committee for assessment on drought, on a visit to the state, said deficient rainfall in Rajasthan has led to a slowdown in agricultural activities.

The team is visiting the state after assessing areas in Gujarat and Maharastra, which it said was relatively better-off. Led by union agriculture and urban cooperative secretary Radha Singh, the team comprises five members.
