MNS chief Raj Thackeray's convoy in Ahmednagar was attacked on Tuesday over his criticism of Sharad Pawar and Ajit Pawar.

NCP and MNS workers thereafter pelted stones at each other Tuesday shortly after Raj Thackeray left a public meeting in Ahmednagar district.

The clash left at least five injured.

Ahmednagar superitendent of police R D Shinde said, No arrests have been made so far. A police inspector was hurt in the incident.

MNS chief Thackeray, who is touring drought-affected districts of the state, had recently attacked NCP president Sharad Pawar and deputy CM Ajit Pawar.

MNS assembly leader Bala Nandgaonkar said, NCP workers had assembled at the venue where Raj Thackeray was to address MNS workers in Ahmednagar.

There was no harm caused to Raj Thackeray. But MNS workers, including women, have been hurt.

Initially, there were verbal clashes between the workers. Police resorted to a mild lathi-charge to prevent the two parties from getting physical. As Thackeray was leaving, NCP workers ran after his vehicle and pelted stones.

NCP chief spokesperson Nawab Mullik said, NCP does not justify violence. But workers have been terribly upset for the last few days as Raj Thackeray has been hitting out at Sharad and Ajit Pawar in unparliamentary language. Raj Thackeray should realise if he takes law into his own hands and makes vulgar comment against senior leaders, there is going to be reaction.
