Gold up R30, silver rises R200 on demand

On the eve of Diwali, both the precious metals gold and silver, rose further on sustained buying by retail customers and jewellers, amid a firming global trend. While gold added R30 to R27,160 per 10 gm, silver rose by R200 to R53,700 per kg as buying activity gathered momentum for Diwali. Precious metals normally register maximum sales on these two festivals, considered to be auspicious occasions for making purchases.
