Agriculture minister Sharad Pawar has called a meeting with top sugar industry officials on Thursday to discuss lifting restrictions on the heavily regulated sector, industry and government sources said. "The minister has sought a meeting with some leading sugar industry officials and mill owners to get down to brass tacks," a senior industry official, who asked not to be identified since the information is not yet public, said.
FCI to recruit 7,000
Food Corporation of India (FCI) plans to recruit 7,000 - 8,000 people within three years. According to an FCI statement on Tuesday, the first phase of recruitment would begin from July 31. FCI has a food grains mostly wheat and rice stocks of more than 57 million tonne which is far above the strategic reserve and buffer stocks norms.
