India, the second-biggest sugar producer, may soon allow exports of about 18,000 mt of sweetener to the United States and the European Union under a quota, food minister KV Thomas told reporters in New Delhi on Monday.

Natural-rubber prices will likely remain at high levels next year as a low global stocks-to- consumption ratio counters a slowdown in demand, according to The Rubber Economist. Growth in China and India, the top consumers, will support prices, offsetting a slowdown in demand in Europe and the US, Prachaya Jumpasut, managing director of the London-based consultancy, said in an interview in Phnom Penh on November 26. Rubber futures have tumbled 35% in Tokyo this year as sovereign-debt crisis and the worst floods in almost 70 years raised demand concerns.
