PSUs gain 8% in M-Cap since Feb 6

In the Sensex journey from 10K to 11K, the public sector undertaking (PSU) sector comprising 37 listed PSUs has seen a whopping rise in its market capitalisation (M-Cap) by Rs 43,785 crore at Rs 6,20,381 crore. The M-Cap of these PSUs has gained 7.59% in the Sensex journey from 10K on February 6 to March 21, 2005. However, the share of 37 PSUs M-Cap in total BSE M-Cap declined from 22.1% on February 6, 2006 to 21.5% on March 21,2006. During the said period, the BSE- PSU Index added 418.94 points (7.62%) to 5916.98 on March 21, 2006 from the level of 5498.04 on February 6, 2006. As oil major ONGC, the numero uno in terms of market capitalisation, maintained its number one rank during both the time periods, its M-Cap gained by Rs 4,834 crore.
